The Arizona Hispanic Center of Excellence (AZ-HCOE) is part of a national effort funded by the Department of Health and Human Services - Health Resources and Services Administration.
The mission of AZ-HCOE is to promote the health of the community by meeting the needs of the state’s growing Latino population. The center is guided by an AHSC and community advisory board. AZ-HCOE goals are to: increase the number of Latino/Hispanic physicians; enhance health research that serves the Latino/Hispanic population in the Southwest; and improve the cultural competency of health-care services for Latino/Hispanic communities. In partnership with AZ-HOPE (Arizona-Health Opportunities Pathways to Excellence, HRSA), the AZ-HCOE provides statewide pipeline programs, Arizona Health Science student support and guidance and faculty research support.
